In a quiet Oakridge apartment, a writer reeling from a painful breakup turns to a vintage typewriter, hoping to break through a stubborn case of writer’s block. At first, the exercise feels like simple distraction. But when a line of fiction — “they knocked on the door” — brings their former partner back in the flesh, the writer realizes the typewriter is far more than a tool. Each word typed holds power to summon, reshape, or erase. The line between imagination and reality blurs as grief, desire, and control weave together in dangerous ways. With the typewriter demanding both inspiration and restraint, the writer must decide: what deserves to be written into existence, and what should stay unwritten?
